In order to further expand the green energy industry such as solar cells and LEDs, Taiwan UMC (2303) added NT$1.5 billion (the same below) to its subsidiary, UMC's new investment business.
It is reported that as early as October 2008, UMC invested 100% of its shares to establish a new investment project of UMC. In March 2009, it increased its capital by 1.5 billion yuan, with a capital of 3 billion yuan, plus a recent investment of 1.5 billion yuan. The company's total capital has reached 4.5 billion yuan.
In addition, "Jiandian Jining Science and Technology Park" has 13 investment cases, and the total investment amount has increased to 800 million US dollars. LED epitaxial and solar cells are expected to be put into production in 2011.
