Standards and Applications:

The instrument is designed and manufactured in accordance with national industry standards, including JTJ052 "Testing Procedures for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures for Highway Engineering" and T0631 "Asphalt Floatation Test". It is used to measure the floatation of residues such as residue and coal tar after distillation of slow-setting liquid petroleum pitch.

The floatation degree of asphalt refers to the time it takes for a sample to soften and be washed away by water in a specified floater from sinking at a certain temperature. Unless otherwise stated, the test temperature for the residue after distillation of liquid petroleum pitch is 50°C, while for coal tar pitch it is either 32°C or 50°C.

The instrument can also function as a constant temperature water bath when not used for asphalt floatation testing.
