The moped is called Motochimp. It is actually an electric mini-motorcycle that is plugged into a household outlet and is fully charged in less than an hour. Perhaps Motochimp can change the city's commuting.
Motochimp has no pollution to the environment. The maximum speed is more than 20 miles (32 kilometers) per hour. It is sure to be cool to ride it to work when there is traffic jam.
The designer claimed that Motochimp is very friendly and stylish. Simply plug the adaptor into a traditional socket and charge it. You can ride 40 miles (60 kilometers) in one hour.
Motochimp was designed by Singapore-based Vanda Electrics. This week, Motochimp will be officially launched at Shenzhen Industrial Design Exhibition. Future electric motorcycles will be listed in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States and will be priced at US$1,600.
The electric motorcycle is one meter long and uses an aluminum alloy frame to install a 48-volt, 350-watt rear electric engine.
Larissa Tan, CEO of Vanda Electrics, said: “Motochimp is approachable. It takes 60 hours to charge in 1 hour and it can be recharged with a standard socket. It doesn’t cost much to buy and use. A 10 year old when designing Motochimp. The picture of the child gave us inspiration."
The Motochimp is mounted with a lithium-ion battery and placed under the seat. The driver can unlock the motorcycle without contact with an RFID key. There is a master key above it, and you can set up 5 traditional passwords.
