The highly anticipated new iPhone featuring an OLED display is set to hit the market in September. One of the main concerns among potential buyers right now is the pricing of this device. Given the current supply constraints, the shipment numbers for this year’s new model are expected to be relatively low. This means there could potentially be high demand but limited availability, creating a situation where demand exceeds supply. According to foreign reports, however, the production of the iPhone 8 is projected to ramp up significantly next year. Industry estimates suggest that around 200 million iPhones with OLED screens will be manufactured in 2018.
Mehdi Hosseini, an analyst from Susquehanna Financial, noted that the OLED-equipped iPhone 8 is likely to sustain its shipments at approximately 90 million units during the latter half of this year. However, Apple plans to boost production starting in the first quarter of next year, adding an extra 5 million units, bringing the total to 95 million. He further predicts that by the end of this year, roughly 50% of the iPhones shipped will feature OLED displays. This figure is expected to rise sharply to 70% next year as the company continues to shift its focus towards OLED technology.
Hosseini's report also highlighted that next year, Apple aims to incorporate OLED screens across a broader range of its products. It’s anticipated that 200 million iPhones will utilize OLED panels in 2018, all of which will come equipped with 3D sensing capabilities. In comparison, Apple’s competitors face significant challenges in securing the necessary 3D sensor production capacity. This is partly due to the nascent nature of the 3D sensing ecosystem and the unclear practical applications of such technology in smartphones—until Apple launched the iPhone 8, the true potential and feasibility of these features were largely unknown.
As we move forward, it’s becoming increasingly evident that Apple is setting the pace in terms of innovation within the smartphone industry. The integration of advanced technologies like OLED displays and 3D sensing not only enhances user experience but also underscores Apple’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve. For consumers, this translates into exciting opportunities to explore cutting-edge features, while for competitors, it presents a formidable challenge in keeping up with Apple’s rapid advancements.
Loudspeaker
We engineer loudspeaker solutions that offer great
durability, quality sound, and peak performance. When an electrical signal is applied to the voice coil it
generates a magnetic field. The voice coil and magnets within the Speaker
interact causing the coil and attached cone to move, generating sound. Our
loudspeakers incorporate large magnets and particular voice coils to handle a
broad range of frequencies and sounds. Additionally, our loudspeakers can be
configured in multiple cone materials, sizes, shapes and gaskets to adapt to
different operational environments. We have provided loudspeaker solutions for
both indoor and outdoor applications. Our loudspeaker designs can be found in
home theater systems and on the handlebars of some of the most exquisite
motorcycles.
