PLSY is a 16-bit continuous pulse output command used in PLC programming. DPLSY is its 32-bit counterpart. The basic syntax for PLSY is: PLSY K1000 D0 Y0. Here, K1000 represents the frequency of the output pulse, which can be a constant or a value from registers, timers, counters, or bit components like K4X0. D0 defines the number of pulses to be output and can also be a variable or fixed value. If D0 is set to 0, the pulse output will continue indefinitely until stopped. Y0 is the output terminal, which can only be Y0 or Y1. For example: LD M0 PLSY D0 D10 Y1. When M0 is activated, the number of pulses specified by D10 will be sent from Y1 at the frequency defined by D0. If M0 is turned off during the process, the pulse output stops immediately. If M0 is reactivated, the output resumes from the beginning with the same pulse count. One important feature of the PLSY command is that it does not support acceleration or deceleration control. This means that when M0 is active, the pulse is output at the fixed frequency set by D0, making it less suitable for high-speed positioning or servo applications. However, changing the value of D0 during operation allows for immediate speed adjustment, which is a useful feature. During the pulse output, if the value of D10 is changed, it does not affect the current output. The new value will take effect only after the output is reset by disconnecting and reconnecting the drive. Several flags and registers are associated with the PLSY instruction: - M8029: This flag turns on once the pulse has been completed. It automatically resets when M0 is turned off. - M8147: Activates when Y0 is outputting pulses and turns off automatically after the pulse is finished. - M8148: Similar to M8147, but for Y1. - D8140: A 32-bit register that keeps track of the total pulses output from Y0. - D8142: A 32-bit register that records the total pulses from Y1. - D8136: A 32-bit register that accumulates the total pulses from both Y0 and Y1. Important note: Before reactivating the PLSY instruction, ensure that either M8147 or M8148 has been inactive for at least one scan cycle. Otherwise, an operational error may occur.
