In this article, I’ll walk you through my entire experience purchasing the "Mario Odyssey Limited Edition" on Meiya, using Friends of the Home for delivery. The process includes everything from choosing the right version and shipping company to receiving the product and using it.

Select Version and Shipping Company
After learning about the basics of purchasing a Switch, I decided to go with the US & Asia order. Initially, I just wanted to buy a red and blue version, but then I found out that the “Mario Odyssey†was coming out soon. So I went for the limited edition instead, which came with a red handle and a special storage case — it looked really cool!
Once the version was chosen, I started looking for a reliable shipping company. I researched several options, including transshipment services like Friends of the Home. I remember reading an article by Aunt Zhang where she mentioned that Friends of the Home had a promotion before November 11th, including tax-free delivery for items under 3,000 yuan. That’s why I decided to use them.
Later, I was reminded that the promotion was extended until November 30th. If you're thinking about buying from abroad, now is a great time to act!
I then visited the Friends of the Home promotional page and filled in all the necessary details.
US & Asia
Registering for a shipping address with Meiya or any other platform is straightforward. You can either use Google or follow the tutorials provided by the shipping company.
After registering, you’ll need to get the shipping company's address — typically a US-based one. For example, Friends of the Home provides a US delivery address, which you can find below:

It’s best to choose a tax-exempt address to avoid extra charges. Once you have that, you can fill it in on Amazon when placing your order.

Once you’ve filled in the address, you can add your credit card information. There are no fees at the time of checkout; the charges come later when the package is shipped.

Now, search for the Switch on Meiya. You should see the “Mario Odyssey Limited Edition†in the list:

When you open the product page, make sure to check the seller. Many people have bought third-party sellers who ended up sending fake products. I made sure to only buy from Meiya’s own store.
Choose Meiya Self-Operated
The price I saw was 379 USD, but the product listed as 485 USD. That’s not right. After checking further, I realized it was a third-party seller. At the time of purchase, there were no official listings, so I had to wait for the product to be available.
On the “Select Sellers†page, I used filters to find Meiya’s self-operated listings. These are usually displayed first on the right side of the screen. Only the ones with the Meiya logo are genuine.

If you can’t find any Meiya listings, it means they’re out of stock. You may have to wait for restocks or try Prime members, as sometimes Switch stock is exclusive to them.

Once you find the right listing, make sure to pay in USD. Don’t use Meiya’s currency conversion service — it charges higher fees than paying directly in USD.

Your UnionPay card might default to RMB, so make sure to change it to USD before proceeding.
Deduction and Account Thawing
Meiya and Yahoo only deduct fees once the product is shipped. If you don’t receive a deduction notice after placing your order, don’t worry — it’s normal.
For first-time purchases on sites like Meiya (Japan), large orders may trigger account freezes due to security checks. Here are two ways to resolve this:
- Purchase a small gift card first, then proceed with larger purchases.
- Email or fax Meiya to request account unblocking.
I had to do this when I bought a 3DS earlier. After the account was frozen, I received an email saying the payment failed and the account was locked.

Don’t panic! Follow the email instructions to thaw your account. During the freeze, you might not be able to log in normally.
You’ll need to provide:
- A copy of your statement ending in 56, including the billing address.
- Your name, phone number, and the email registered to your Amazon account.
Take a photo of your bank card, a screenshot of your bill, and include your name, phone number, and registered email. Convert everything into a PDF in English and fax it to Amazon.

The fax number was also included in the email. You can find it on the Amazon Help page: Amazon.com
After 48 hours, your account should be unblocked, and you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Once that’s done, your order will be shipped!
If you run into issues during the thawing process, you can contact Amazon’s customer service via live chat or register a small ticket. Their US team is very helpful, even if you need to use translation tools.
If you prefer Chinese support, Amazon China can also assist with international orders.
UPS Transportation
Amazon’s delivery times are generally accurate. Most of the time, the package arrives at the transit warehouse according to the expected date.
Transit Process and Storage
Upon arrival at Friends of the Home, they take photos and weigh the package. One of the best features of Friends of the Home is that they don’t require advance forecasts for packages, and they also offer free photos.
The “Mario Odyssey Limited Edition†weighed 2.12KG, and the transfer fee was 161 CNY.

Friends of the Home is a great choice because they allow free storage without pre-forecasting and provide free photos of the package upon arrival.
With other shipping companies, you often have to input tracking numbers in advance, and taking pictures may cost 5 CNY per item.
Transportation Time
Before I bought the Mario Odyssey, my friend purchased a red and blue version of the Switch using a four-way transfer. I’m sharing our real results here.

The US sent it to Hong Kong, and then it was shipped via EMS to China. From Guangzhou, it was delivered to Beijing. Since I ordered during the Double 11 period, it took 18 days to arrive.

Neither of us were taxed. If we had been, we would have paid around $150.
Here’s a tip: When the EMS sends the package to China, you can check the “mail courier will pass the public†section for logistics updates. This method is faster than checking the official EMS website and often has more detailed customs clearance information.

Since there are many articles about the Switch out-of-the-box experience on Aunt Station, I won’t go into too much detail here.
As for the games I bought, the “Mario Odyssey†is the limited edition. I also purchased:
- "Mario Mad Rabbit" — Ubisoft and Nintendo collaboration, a fun SLG RPG with a funny tone, starting in Chinese!
- Mario Kart 8 will be updated to Chinese on December 1st!
- "12Switch" — built-in over 20 mini-games, perfect for parties!
- "With a Paper Cut It" — the physical version costs only 180 CNY, supports Chinese, great for 2+ players, especially for group fun.
In the future, I plan to buy "Exotic Excalibur 2", "The Elder Scrolls V", "Lego Marvel Heroes 2", and "The Star of Kaby" in 2018. The old sales plan was a game masterpiece in January, but my wallet couldn’t handle it…
At the time of writing this article, "Time" magazine named the Switch as one of the Best Inventions of 2017. It’s on the list — the best invention of the year! And there are so many official Chinese versions. Isn’t it a big wave right now?
