Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the release of a new ultra-precision thin film chip resistor called the PLTU. This latest offering brings significant improvements in both TCR and tolerance compared to its predecessors, making it ideal for demanding applications that require high accuracy and stability.

The PLTU series is available in five different sizes, ranging from 0603 to 2512. It features a TCR of ±2ppm/°C and a tolerance of ±0.01%, which makes it suitable for use in industrial, medical, military, and aerospace environments. These resistors are designed to maintain performance under extreme conditions, ensuring reliable operation over time and across a wide temperature range.

Engineered for high-precision applications, the PLTU offers stable performance with ±0.04% accuracy at +70°C over 10,000 hours. This level of stability is essential in systems such as test and measurement equipment, instrumentation, weighing scales, and navigation systems used in the military and aerospace sectors.

The PLTU provides a resistance range from 100 Ω to 3 MΩ, including non-standard values. It also delivers excellent noise performance, with less than -30dB of noise, a voltage coefficient of 0.1ppm/V, and power dissipation from 150mW to 1W. The maximum operating voltage ranges from 75V to 200V, and the device can operate between -55°C and +125°C, making it highly versatile.

Manufactured using a high-purity aluminum substrate, the PLTU incorporates a special passivation method (SPM) to enhance corrosion resistance. It is available in lead-free or lead-free package options, with a nickel barrier finish. Additionally, the device is halogen-free and meets UL 94 V-0 fire resistance standards, ensuring compliance with industry safety requirements.
