China-EU exchange mechanical and electrical products technical regulations and standards

Online International Business News October 17-18, 2005 China-EU Seminar on Electromechanical Products Technical Regulations and Standards was held in Shanghai. The seminar was held under the China-Europe Consultation Mechanism in the WTO/TBT field established by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the European Union Enterprise and Industry Directorate in 2002.
The trade between China and the EU has developed smoothly in recent years. In 2004, the trade volume between China and the EU reached a record high of US$177.28 billion. The EU became China's largest trading partner and China became the EU's second largest trading partner. Among them, mechanical and electrical products reached 121.7 billion US dollars, accounting for 68.7%, of which China exported 64.4 billion US dollars to the EU, and the EU exported 53.3 billion US dollars to China. It is estimated that the trade between the two sides will reach 200 billion US dollars in 2005, of which the mechanical and electrical products are expected to reach 140 billion US dollars. Mechanical and electrical products are the main driving force for trade development between the two sides.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the EU's implementation of the new method directive. The implementation of these directives guarantees the safety of products exported to the EU, but it also has an impact on the entry of Chinese products into the EU market. Many Chinese companies lack access to relevant EU laws and regulations, so products cannot enter the EU market, or are detected. Forced recall from the EU market if it does not comply with safety regulations. In the EU market in 2004, there were more than 50 products from China that were recalled because they did not comply with the low-voltage directive. With the implementation of the European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) technical regulations in the next two years, China's European and European mechanical and electrical products have encountered new restrictions.
Similarly, EU companies need to understand China's technical regulations and standards to ensure that their products meet the mandatory technical specifications and standards for safety, health and environmental protection such as compulsory product certification (CCC), energy efficiency labeling, and smoothly enter China. As a result, the meeting provided an opportunity for the business community of China and the EU to understand information and master the rules, which is conducive to the smooth development of bilateral trade between China and the EU.
More than 200 people including the relevant leaders of the AQSIQ, relevant government departments and enterprises from all over the country, and officials from the EU Enterprise and Industry Directorate and related committees and representatives of EU countries attended Shanghai to discuss and exchange technical regulations between China and Europe in the field of mechanical and electrical products. And standard requirements.
