In the past, Sharp, known for its artisan spirit and commitment to a high quality of life, became a symbol of Japanese innovation. After Foxconn took over, the company’s craftsmanship not only continued but was further refined, leading to even higher product quality. Every Sharp product that goes to market undergoes some of the most rigorous testing in the industry.
Recently, during the “Coalizing Victoria Harbour, Lighting Up a New Future†event and the Hong Kong 8K 8 Life Show, media representatives were granted access to the mysterious Foxconn South China Testing Center. This facility is an independent third-party laboratory within Foxconn, dedicated to product quality assurance, design verification, market compliance testing, and after-sales support. With 12 such centers nationwide, the South China Testing Center plays a vital role in ensuring product reliability before it reaches consumers. According to Zhang Ping, a senior manager at the center, Sharp TVs are also sent here for comprehensive testing and certification.
Inside the lab, a full suite of validation tests is conducted, including vibration impact, ambient temperature testing, noise analysis, toxic substance detection, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and organic material analysis. The center follows ISO 17025 standards and is accredited by CNAS, with its reports recognized globally under the International Laboratory Mutual Recognition System. This ensures that the quality results from the South China Testing Center are trusted worldwide.
Currently, Sharp offers a wide range of television models in the market, from flagship to more affordable options, showcasing the brand’s century-old craftsmanship and strict quality control. “Every TV should be made with care and precision,†says Sharp. That’s why each unit is tested at the nearest testing center before leaving the factory, ensuring top-tier quality for consumers.
During the visit, Sharp demonstrated several key testing processes, including EMI (electromagnetic interference) radiation measurement and EMS (electromagnetic susceptibility) testing. These tests ensure that the TV can function properly even when exposed to normal levels of interference. Another critical test involves checking the durability of the packaging through drop, squeeze, tape strength, and puncture resistance simulations. This helps prevent damage during transportation.
The mechanical impact test uses gravity acceleration to simulate real-world shocks, verifying the strength of both the product and its packaging. Similarly, vibration experiments mimic the movement of aircraft and trucks to ensure the TV arrives undamaged. These nine comprehensive safety testing systems have been developed over years to guarantee a premium user experience.
With increasing competition and rising consumer expectations, the TV market is evolving rapidly. In this era, quality remains king. Embracing the spirit of craftsmanship has become essential for home appliance companies looking to upgrade and stay relevant. For Sharp, this commitment to excellence continues to drive innovation and customer satisfaction.
