Contrast 1000000:1 Epson starting RHTPS technology

A few days ago, Epson (China) Co., Ltd. invited major mainland media to Epson's office and research department in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, Japan to jointly verify Epson's latest Reflective HTPS (abbreviated as RHTPS reflective high-temperature polysilicon technology) technology release. This technology can increase the contrast ratio of the LCD projector to 1000000:1, surpassing the current 200000:1 contrast ratio of the current Epson home projector model EH-TW450 0, achieving a deeper black level.

As seen from the above figure, the light of the conventional projection HTPS technology directly penetrates the glass substrate of the liquid crystal panel through the transparent electrode, and in the reflective HTPS technology, the light is reflected back to the aluminum alloy electrode.

Projection HTPS technology, when light penetrates the liquid crystal molecules, the gap between the liquid crystal molecules also has light passing through, but these light can not be utilized, resulting in light loss. However, in the reflective HTPS technology, the specularly reflected light is easier to control the direction, so that the light can be efficiently projected on the liquid crystal molecules, thereby improving the light utilization efficiency. The figure below shows the difference between the two techniques on the actual projected picture.

The left picture shows the traditional projection HTPS technology, the light rate is low, and the grid phenomenon between the pixels of the picture is obvious. In the right picture, the reflective HTPS technology improves the light utilization rate, enhances the smoothness of the picture, and significantly reduces the mesh phenomenon.

At present, Epson's RHTPS technology has been applied to the EH-R4000 home projector model listed in the second half of 2010 (this product uses 0.74 inch C2FINE technology, brightness 1200 lumens, native contrast ratio of 40,000:1, standard resolution The rate is 1920×1080, the price is to be determined. The model listed on the mainland is EH-R5000C.
