At the recently concluded 2018 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Shenzhen made a strong impression with over 400 robotics companies showcasing their innovations among more than 4,800 exhibitors. Companies like DJI, Youdian, AEE, and Vietminjiang Science and Technology presented cutting-edge "Black Tech" products that captured global attention. This success highlights Shenzhen’s growing dominance in the robotics sector.
Shenzhen's leadership in robotics is rooted in its well-established industrial ecosystem. Recently, the “2018 Shenzhen Robot Innovation and Development Forum†was held, organized by the Shenzhen Economic and Trade and Information Technology Committee. The event emphasized that the city’s robotics industry has surpassed an output value of 80 billion yuan, marking a shift from its long-standing reputation in consumer electronics to a new era of robotic innovation.
AI is playing a key role in making Shenzhen’s robots smarter and more adaptable. More local companies are focusing on independent R&D to commercialize their technologies, gaining recognition in the global market. According to Biaret, Assistant Dean of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology and Secretary General of the Shenzhen Robotics Association, both industrial and service robots are now developing rapidly. He noted that China’s service robot market is entering a critical phase.
The city’s strong industrial base, access to high-end talent, and robust capital markets have all contributed to this growth. With AI advancements, Shenzhen’s robots are becoming increasingly intelligent. Xin Dong, General Manager of Xinsong Robot Service Robots Division, emphasized the importance of integrating robots with real-world applications. His vision is to make robots as simple to use as desktop devices, requiring minimal setup through modular and open technologies.
Hong Kong is playing a crucial role in providing the “brains†behind Shenzhen’s smart products. Shang Hailong, President of Shang Tang Technology Hong Kong, explained that Hong Kong focuses on algorithm development, while Shenzhen handles product design and manufacturing. Beijing serves as the cloud computing hub. This tri-city collaboration leverages each region’s strengths, creating a powerful ecosystem for AI and robotics.
HKUST has also been actively supporting Shenzhen’s robotics industry. Yu Jidong, Vice President of HKUST, highlighted the university’s early establishment of a local technical support team, helping Shenzhen-based companies adopt advanced technologies. Looking ahead, HKUST plans to increase investments in areas such as algorithms and commercialization.
Experts agree that domestic alternatives to imported technology are no longer just a slogan but a reality. Dong, a representative from a Shenzhen robotics company, stated that their production lines are now benchmarked against international leaders, with some products even surpassing foreign competitors. Han Chen, CEO of Han’s Laser Intelligent Equipment Group, shared similar sentiments, noting that his company has broken through foreign monopolies in laser technology and is now expanding globally.
Despite these achievements, challenges remain. Zhang Jianwei, an academician from Germany, pointed out that while Shenzhen excels in hardware and manufacturing, it still needs to strengthen its foundational innovation. He suggested that collaborations with international labs and organizations could help bridge this gap, especially in areas like big data and cloud computing.
As Shenzhen continues to evolve, its robotics industry is set to play a major role in shaping the future of smart technology across industries like healthcare, education, and home automation. With a blend of innovation, talent, and strategic partnerships, the city is well-positioned to lead the next wave of technological transformation.
Piezoelectric Buzzer For External Drive
The piezoelectric transducers (for External
Drive) produce exceptional sound output and efficiency all while meeting each
customers unique performance requirements. Piezo transducers are constructed
without magnets, instead they create sound mechanically via the piezoelectric effect.
Our piezo transducers are not equipped with a built in drive circuit. This
provides our customers with the flexibility of designing their own circuitry to
meet their specific needs. The advantage of using an external drive circuit is
that the piezo transducers can output sounds at multiple frequencies. Full
bridge circuits ramp up SPL for more peak-to-peak voltage, making our piezo
transducers a high output solution.
